My Week in Style: P.F. I love you

I admittedly have a love affair with my All American PF Flyers. Named after famed Celtics basketball player Bob Cousy, these puppies truly are a throwback to the 50s. Don’t get me wrong, I love my black high-top Chuck Taylor’s as much as the next girl – but as far as comfort and style goes, PFs get my vote any day.

I’ve been oh so tempted to try the sneaker/dress look, and I just so happened to snag the perfect casual summer dress during our last visit to San Diego. So to off-set my form-fitting Betty Paige striped dress, I paired a classic jean jacket with white, canvas, low-top PF Flyers for a leisurely stroll with Grant through the silver sands of Coronado state beach.

Jacket: Eddie Bauer. Dress: Bettie Page clothing. Sneakers: Bob Cousy Lo PF Flyers (also obsessed with these See by Choe lace-up wedge sneakers). Cat-Eye Shades: Ralph Lauren.

Instagram Snaps

We spotted this place Mootime on our last trip to Coronado – so to keep with the retro mood of the day I snapped a couple instagram shots, including one aptly named “cookie monster” sundae…

My Week in Style: Day to Night, Black and White

This past Memorial Day weekend was our 3 year wedding anniversary – but before we could sail down the 5 to San Diego (little joke for anyone who’s taken the 5 on a holiday weekend, or any day of the week for that matter heading south)…I had to tackle what to wear to a day meeting and event at night for the magazine.

In these situations, it’s like a mini style challenge – how to put together an outfit to take you from day to night? Fortunately I had just found an off-white blazer that I’d had feelers out for over the past few weeks, and decided this season’s black and white trend would do the trick.

Blazer: Anat B. Beverly Hills boutique (comes in multiple colors). Pants: Calvin Klein. Blouse: Old Navy (this chiffon top would also be cute). Sandals: Halogen (love these Zara versions here and here). Jewelry: Jewelmint ring, Michael Kors watch, Ron Herman studded bracelet

Needless to say, Grant and I couldn’t help ourselves from quoting Anchorman all the way to San Diego – our favorite being Ron Burgundy’s infamous made up meaning of San Diego, as that of a particular “body part” of a female ocean mammal…Here are just a few photos from our last day spent on the beautiful Coronado Island.

you stay classy San Diego

Striped Boat Neck Top: H&M (also at J.Crew and Old Navy). Jeans: Zara. Sandals: Seychelles (not shown). Sunnies: Ralph Lauren.
