Why is it that when life hits us with change – we all of the sudden put these unrealistic expectations on ourselves. Be the perfect wife. Be the perfect mom. Be the perfect employee. When did life become so “all or nothing?” Forcing us to believe that unless we master everything we do, it’s not worth doing. This notion got amplified when I became a mom.
Sometimes it’ll just hit me outta nowhere – the feeling that nothing I do is ever good enough. And even when I feel like one aspect of my life, my career for instance, is succeeding – then I can’t help but feel like it’s at the expense of my kids, my husband, or even my friends.
But to hell with that y’all. What if we let go of all the self doubt, and gave ourselves the freedom to just “be?”
– Be the mom that screws up sometimes, but doesn’t let it define who we are.
– Be the mom who goes after her dreams and gives herself grace when things don’t always go as planned.
– Be the mom who celebrates life’s little victories, and be proud of how far you’ve come.
– Be the mom who’s comfortable with rejection, knowing it’s more important to show our children how we overcome obstacles.
– Be the mom who’s content in whatever life stage you’re in, because you don’t want to miss out on the life happening right in front of you.
– Be the mom who knows that there is no perfect scenario where everything goes as planned. There will always be tough days filled with imperfect moments – but who the heck has the perfect life anyway??
Trust me, if you think you know that person – that mom who looks put together every single day of her life. You don’t. Nobody knows what struggles people face, but it’s in the face of those struggles that we have a choice. A choice to pick ourselves up off the floor and say – maybe having it all isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. And maybe, just maybe, being content with the here and now is where true happiness lies…
As an experienced Mom (my oldest is 26) I can tell you that you are amazing for realizing these things so early on. No human is perfect. You do the best that you can and remember to always fill up YOUR cup so you can be the best you can be!

I can relate to this soooo much, me being a single mom and working more that one job, I felt super guilty … But I also know I gave my daughter a great life, Its all about balance. I love the advice you gave in this post!!
