Thank you to Hotel Granduca Houston for providing us with accommodations.
It’s been the better half of two years, ever since Charlotte was born, that we’ve been talking about getting away – just the two of us. When we realized it wasn’t in the cards for our 10 year anniversary this past May, we told ourselves we would try again before the end of the year. It just so happened that the stars aligned for a short but sweet staycation at the beautiful Hotel Granduca Houston, over my birthday a couple of weeks ago and it was simply amazing.
I’d been there several times before since that’s where Garrett’s favorite cooking class with Cook2Learn Academy is held, and where we even filmed a segment for ABC13. I’d never had the pleasure of staying there until now, and I have to say, it’s right up there with some of the nicest hotels myself and Grant have been to when we lived in LA and stayed in when traveling Europe. You can see all of the beautiful decor, amenities, and amazing cuisine they offer at the hotel in my video and read more about our stay below!

Watching this video just makes me want to relive it all over again!
Hotel Granduca Property Details & Things To Do
Hotel Granduca is located in Uptown Park, just around the corner from the Galleria and a short 15 min drive to Downtown. After checking in at the hotel, where we were warmly greeted by their staff, we got to meet one of the hotel managers who made us feel exceptionally welcome. They reminded us about their private courtesy transportation that can take you anywhere within a 3 mile radius to and from the hotel. It worked out perfectly since we had planned to walk around the Galleria, and it basically meant Grant got to live out his dream of being driven around in a Maserati Quattroporte for the evening ?
Hotel Granduca Houston – Suite Life
I can’t imagine a room at the hotel that isn’t absolutely amazing, but I highly recommend staying in one of their suites. The junior and executive suites feature 600-800 sq ft with a separate living room and sitting area, full kitchen, dining room, and king sized bed. We were situated on the top floor with a balcony that boasted a gorgeous view of the city, and was so nice to sit and enjoy our coffee in the morning before heading back to reality.
Hotel Granduca Amenities
As beautiful as the hotel itself is – the amenities are what sets it apart and keeps you coming back for more. Ristorante Cavour is known as one of Houston’s finest Italian restaurants. I happen to know their Executive Chef, Maurizio Ferrarese, since he helps teach Garrett’s cooking class. We crossed paths on our way to dinner and he surprised us with a very special birthday dessert – a delicious panna cotta. If you’re not tired parents like us, who were just looking forward to sleeping sans kids, then you can always enjoy drinks and live music at Giorgio’s. We plan to come back though to enjoy one of their regular events like live Jazz on Thursdays.
The next morning we were excited to go back to Cavour and try out their amazing breakfast menu. I’m not a big coffee drinker but Grant was raving about it being some of the best coffee he’d ever had. I was just happy with my Egg’s Benedict and fresh squeezed orange juice ?
Before leaving our own personal paradise, we took a stroll around the pool and lounged in the cabanas for a last bit of R&R. We truly can’t believe how lucky we are to have such a renowned Italian jewel of a hotel right in our backyard.
If you’re local or traveling through Houston – do yourself a favor and stay a night or two at Hotel Granduca. You may just never want to leave!
