I don’t exactly know why, but I’d been secretly waiting for the day my little monkey Garrett finally decided dinosaurs are cool. In fact, I may have been even more excited than he was. One of my first loves as a kid were dinosaurs. My parents even had a personalized book made for me when I was about Garrett’s age called “Cammeo’s Dinosaur Adventure.” That’s how geeked out about dinos I was – and it didn’t stop there. Triceratops was my all time fave pretty much my whole life (aka present day). Probably because she (yes, it’s a she) was a herbivore so I knew she wouldn’t eat me – yet she had those killer horns which made her super cool, but not as scary as T-Rex 😉 Well, Garrett happens to be a big T-Rex fan and he also looooves PLAYMOBIL Toys! We themed his whole 4th bday party last year around the PLAYMOBIL Ghostbusters™ Firehouse, Ecto-1, Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, etc. He plays with them everyday and we love them too because of how well they’re made, and how it encourages creative play. Well this year for his birthday, we were so excited to surprise him with the PLAYMOBIL Hidden Temple with T-Rex!

I figured I’m not the only mama with a dino-crazed kiddo with a birthday coming up, so I’ve rounded up some fun ideas on how to throw a “RAWRsome 5th Bday Party!” And because no party would be complete without that one killer gift – I just love PLAYMOBIL’s Hidden Temple with T-Rex as the perfect toy inspiration to make your theme come to life!
Cookie Fossils (sugar cookies w/ dino imprints)
My monkey and I love to bake together, so this year I decided to have him help me make his special treat to bring to his class on his birthday. We used the T-Rex from his new PLAYMOBIL dino toy to make mini footprints in the sugar cookies right after we pulled them out of the oven. We both agreed they turned out super cute! The only problem is, we couldn’t stop eating them 🙂
Dino Dirt (chocolate pudding w/ oreos, chocolate rocks & mini dinos on top)
I mean, it doesn’t get any yummier than this – what kid doesn’t love chocolate?? No kid of mine, I tell you. Which is why when I found this on Pinterest I knew it was a keeper – see pin for more.
Tar Pit Excavation (black slime w/ dino bones)
This one was inspired by my time living and working near the La Brea Tar Pits back in LA. I realize slime is every parents worst nightmare, but I mean seriously – how cool would it be to submerge a bunch of those toy plastic dinosaur fossils in black slime to see who could excavate the most? Nope, still not with me? Agree to disagree 😉
T-Rex Treats (dinosaur themed food/goodie bag w/ free printable)
There are so many cute dino-themed food ideas out there – dino teeth (Bugles, remember those?!?), dino bones (yogurt-covered pretzels), dino shaped rice krispie treats, etc. Add a personal touch with a cute “dino treats” tag that you can get a free printable for here. You could even change it up to read “Hope You Had a RAWRsome good time! From:______.”

Hope y’all have a RAWRsome time playing!
