Constant Escapement – Girard-Perregaux & Concern Foundation

This week, for a change, I wasn’t the one dragging my husband to a fashion event – he came willingly, and for good reason too. It was an event hosted by Los Angeles magazine and Feldmar Watch Company, to unveil the Girard-Perregaux Constant Escapement – the first ever constant force watch. Not to get too technical, but it basically results in a pretty phenomenal spectrum of a watch with perfect chronometry – or timekeeping in layman’s terms.

What’s more, for the month of June 10% of all proceeds of Girard-Perregaux sales will be donated to Concern Foundation for cancer research. If I happened to have a spare $100K lying around, you better believe I’d be tempted to drop some serious dough for a great cause. But at least now I’ll have an excuse for being fashionably late…

My Week in Style: Gold Metal Wednesday

Ever since I can remember, whether as a little girl idolizing Mary Lou Retton or sharing in the amazement of Michael Phelps, I have always loved how the Olympics can make a dreamer out of anyone. So in honor of our SoCal beach volleyball Olympic champs, Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh Jennings, I dedicate today’s style to all things gold.

The top I scored a few weeks back from the Zara sale – it was just too hard to pass on those gold rivets and sheer softness of the material. The metallic gold strappy sandals were also a great find at one of Banana Republic’s ridiculous shoe sales…Don’t you just love getting compliments on something you know you only spent 30 bucks on?

I recently saw in the August issue of Glamour where the Editors pitched their best idea for a fashion/beauty-focused Olympic competition, such as “hair straightening” or “nail art”. Well, if bargain shopping ever made the cut, you better believe I’d be a qualifier.

Shirt: Zara. Jeans: Martin + Osa. Shoes: Banana Republic. Jewelry: Earrings from Aldo, Bracelet from Brandy Melville (also love the Stella & Dot Pyramid Double Wrap Bracelet), and Ring was a birthday gift a friend bought for me at last years Thread Show in Downtown LA.

My Week in Style: Safari Tuesday

Today I chose to pick a trend and commit to it from head to toe. I find it helps turn what could be a 15 min. outfit selection into a swift 5 min. – try it next time you find yourself staring into the oblivion of your closet.

When I first spotted the safari style a couple years back, I knew the key piece worth investing in would be a pair of fitted cargo pants. Around that same time Martin + Osa (the former American Eagle designer boutique) was going out of business, and there just happened to be one right around the corner from my office. With everything 70% off, I felt even more safe in my decision to try out the safari trend, and nabbed a pair of deep army green cargo pants.

I’ve since then added some key accessories, like a pair of rustic ankle boots from All Saints that I’ve literally been living in ever since I bought the last pair from Bloomingdales – god bless that sales person who hunted them down for me, no pun intended…
