When my husband and I met, he was still working at NASA (he literally used to train astronauts at NASA’s NBL – soooo he’s kinda a big deal, but he’d never tell you that ;), and I never dreamt we’d have the chance to pass on his love of space to our son someday. But it’s like that passion was passed down in his genes, which has been so special since moving back home to Houston and living just five minutes from NASA. In fact, we were just talking the other day about the wonderful irony of us ending up buying our first home back in Clear Lake, after living in NYC, LA and traveling all around the world. Funny how life comes full circle sometimes.
This past weekend I was so excited to celebrate our little lady’s upcoming arrival with friends and family at our baby sprinkle. My sweet neighbor and friend hosted the “desert-themed party w/ a southern twist” as I like to call it, with all my favorite tex-mex cravings (I’m still dreaming about the queso :). It was so special to be back in Texas and be surrounded with so many dear friends, both old and new, along with all their moms – who basically helped raise me. Grant’s mom, two sisters and niece all came, who I can’t imagine life without. And of course my mom and her best friend who were so kind to think of Garrett and bring him his own “Big Brother” party hat and more Hot Wheels to add to his already growing stock. Hope you enjoy the photos that my resident blog photographer and friend at Marlo Carroll Photography took of the festivities.
Garrett’s 3rd birthday came and went this week, and like most important life events – the build up is way bigger than the actual thing itself. I mean, I kept telling myself/repeating what I’d read from the mommysphere “the 3rd birthday is the one they start to remember.” That’s all I needed to hear and it was on. I picked a theme – construction, naturally. If you know my son I feel like his obsession with trucks is at a whole other level, so I felt like my creative skills needed to be kicked up a notch. I did the late night Pinterest binge to get the juices flowing, and hit up the trusty party planning spots the next day – Party City, Dollar Tree, Target and Hobby Lobby. I included photos below from his party along with all the décor and where I found them – hope it helps for future bday party ideas!
