Happy YOU Year

Mom Jean Confessions: Happy YOU Year

The last few months of the year were like a blur for us. Between work, holidays, birthdays, and kid’s school activities out the wazoo – it honestly felt like a nonstop merry-go-round that left us all a bit dizzy at the end. The hubs and I finally sat down on the couch New Year’s Day, and realized it literally was the first time we’d had absolutely nothing to do, no where to go, no one to entertain since before the holidays. And it felt damn good. Felt good to be lazy. To not care what was going on outside the walls of our home. But like they say – all good things must come to an end 😉

The start to the new year has started off with an air of uncertainty career wise for both of us. Grant has been ready for changes in his career for some time now, and this year definitely feels like the year things will start to fall into place. I keep telling myself change is good, but dangit, feeling comfortable is nice too. At this point it’s looking like we’ll be choosing between a move, or more travel. Not exactly my two favorite things to choose from, but at the end of the day as long as we’re healthy and together as a family, that’s all that matters.

As for my career? I’m still going strong with this blog of mine, and have been working like crazy since the new year to set some exciting goals. I’ve had my eye on a redesign and a talented friend of mine at High Note Designs is ready to jump in once I give her the go. I’ve also been crafting up a laundry list of brands I’ve either worked with already, or have my sights on working with this year. I’m so glad I did, because as I went through the list of clients I worked with in some capacity this past year – it totaled over fifty brands! I don’t know why, but that surprised the heck outta me. I think because at the end of the year, things had started to slow down some and it made me start the comparison game/second guess my worth. I hated myself for doing it, but I feel like it’s an inevitable trap anyone can fall into when you’re your own boss. Luckily I opened up about it to Grant and he was so quick to squash those negative thoughts before they really got out of hand, reminded me of my value, and told me to just keep doing what I’ve been doing and the rest will come. I love it when he’s right 😉

I also just wrapped up my remote freelance job through We Are Rosie, and have been a little worried about when the next gig might come. I did just get a bit of good news on that front, but I’m always afraid of jinxing things so I think I’ll wait to divulge anything until it’s a done deal. Let’s just say it would pretty much be my dream freelance job I’ve been waiting for, and working with an amazing team on top of that – so please say a little prayer for me 😊

I’ve also just kicked off the video series of my popular “Mom Jean Confessions” that’s now live on IGTV and YouTube! You can also watch it here and stay tuned each month for more of my “triumphs & struggles in mamahood.”

In the meantime, I just wanted to say a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who’s joined in on this journey with us and I truly wouldn’t be able to do what I love without your support. My wish is that this year also brings “good change” for you and I’ll be here to remind you along the way that “it’s better to regret something you did, than something you didn’t do.” Happy YOU Year!!
