Ladies who lunch took on a whole new meaning as I attended the Spring Affaire event this past Saturday hosted by the Assistance League of Los Angeles. The luncheon was held at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills and benefit Operation School Bell, a charity dedicated to “dressing children for school success” – now that’s a mission I can get behind.
Working for Los Angeles magazine definitely has its perks. We not only produce some of the best events around L.A., but every now and then you get the opportunity to attend events where you show up not knowing what to expect and you leave pleasantly surprised. I only wish there were more events like this one, that celebrate the amazing accomplishments of the awe-inspiring women who make up this wonderful city of ours.
I’m not gonna lie though, besides I never was a good liar, just ask my mom (who incidentally was my date). Before I really knew what the event was for, they got me with the bold block letters on the invite that read – T R I N A T U R K fashion show and pop-up store. I became a fan of Trina Turk through working at the magazine, where she’s been featured several times including our Made in L.A. style section. So when the models stepped out in cropped silhouettes and dresses with perfectly placed cut-outs, I knew it would be impossible to choose my favorite from the new Summer Collection (but I managed to pick a few just for you – check them out below). You gotta love a fashion show that starts out with the intro to “take a road trip through the desert, and head west to the beach” – it doesn’t get much more SoCal than that…
